Richard Edward Disney's Obituary
Decatur-Richard E. Disney, 62, of Decatur, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born October 4, 1950 in Decatur, the son of Donald Earl and Marilla L. (Hughey) Disney. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He received his BA in business from Millikin University and his Masters in accounting from the University of Illinois. He was employed as the Forsyth Postmaster with the United States Postal Service. He was a history buff and enjoyed reading. He married Parthena 'Tina' Dimitriadou December 17, 1970 in Munich, Germany. They shared over forty-two years together.
He leaves behind his wife Tina, son Richard H. Disney and wife Kris Hay-Disney, daughter Vickie E. Mathis and husband Russell, brothers James Disney and wife Ann Marie, sisters Anne L. Whitaker and husband Darrell, and Nancy C. Disney, grandchildren Haylee L. Mathis, Carie L. Disney, Lexie Mathis, and Michael G. Disney, and several nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, and brothers Donald E. and Glenn B. Disney.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kairouz and the staff at Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois, Nurse Melanie, and the staff at DMH Hospice especially Heather and the First Christian Church for all the visits.
Services to celebrate Richard's life will be 10am Friday, May 31, 2013 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Melanoma Research Foundation or Decatur Macon County Senior Center.
