Dick Evey made lots of friends in Clinton when he began visiting his Granma in Clinton during his high school years. She called him "Dickie-Bird" and chided him for running around with those "wicked friends" he made in Clinton (yes, that was us she was referring to). We all got a big kick out of that one! I think we were kind of proud that we were considered to be "wicked" in somebody's eyes, even though we didn't really think of ourselves that way.
Dick kept us laughing with his jokes, his keen sense of humor and good nature through our teen years and none of us got into any serious trouble while under his influence. It's good to know he was so well thought of by his family and friends through the years. I hadn't been in touch with him for decades but I still remember him well - as I'm sure the rest of our bunch that are still around do as well. Thanks, Dickie-Bird and a fond farewell to you.
