Richard Dean Floyd's Obituary
Richard “Dick” D. Floyd, of Forsyth passed away on Tuesday, September 16, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born on January 9, 1946, in Monticello, IL, to Winfred and Darlene (Mackey) Floyd. He married Sue Greene on October 2, 1965.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sue, of almost 60 years; son Derek (Kristy) Floyd and grandsons Landon and Logan Floyd of Morton, IL, son Stuart (Heidi) Floyd and granddaughters Alexandra, Catherine, Isabella and grandson Noah Floyd of Atlanta, GA, and daughter Jenny Carson and granddaughter Makayla and grandson Cameron Carson of Champaign, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: David Floyd and Daniel Floyd.
Richard was department manager at Bridgestone Firestone in Decatur and Bloomington for 47 years. He was inducted into the Decatur Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020 and is a graduate of Richland Community College. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed traveling and coaching his children’s many sports teams. Richard was also an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Decatur, IL.
