Richard Bruce Fonville's Obituary
Richard Bruce Fonville passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Danville IL. Richard was born June 30, 1948 the son of Edgar Fonville and Adlean Freeman Fonville. He attended Decatur Public Schools and had worked as a Physical Therapist with the VA. While serving with the U.S. Army 25thInfantry Division in Vietnam , Richard was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (V), the Bronze Star (V) and the Silver Star for acts of heroism in combat on three different occasions.
Richard is survived by brothers Philip (Jeana) and Michael (Amenda) Fonville; sisters Jacquelyn Robbins, Peggy (Daniel) Heckman and Christine Fonville; sisters-in-law Henri Ann Fonville and Lanitta Fonville; and a host of nieces and nephews who will always cherish their memories of Uncle Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leon and Carl Fonville and brother-in-law Horace Robbins, Sr.
Services will be held at Abundant Life Christian Center at 12:00 pm Monday, June19, 2017 with visitation 2 hours before the service. Interment with full military honors will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
