Richard P. Goetz's Obituary
Richard P. Goetz, 82, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born on March 14, 1934 in Davenport, IA the son of Raymond and Mildred (Wishart) Goetz. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and was retired district manager for Varco-Pruden Manufacturing Company. He enjoyed high school and college wrestling and was the 1954 SEC Wrestling Champion from the University of Chattanooga Tennessee. He also enjoyed electric model trains. He married Donna M. Barnes on March 31, 1962 in Rock Island, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; son, Steven Paul Goetz of Decatur; daughters, Paula Drabik of Germantown, TN; Constance Lavon Hensler (Rett) of Decatur; brother, Dennis Goetz (Carol) of Waterloo, IA; sister, Carol Bargmann of Sartell, MN; grandchildren: Austin Patrick Volpe, Lucas Richard Volpe, Halle Renee Volpe, Blake Douglas Drabik, and Nathan Paul Drabik.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond Goetz Jr. and David Goetz; sisters, Lois Menard and Mary Matteson.
Service to celebrate Richard’s life will be 10 AM Friday, January 13, 2017 in Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Pastor Doug Lowery officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland
Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Maranatha Assembly of God Church.
