Richard James Hedrick, age 81, of Decatur, passed away at 4:25 AM on June 9, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Private services for Richard will be held at the Pieta Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Richard was born on January 1, 1939 in Springfield, the son of August and Nora Mae Colburn Hedrick. Richard married Sandra Kane on June 6, 1964 in Springfield. Sandra survives of Decatur. Richard is also survived by his daughter Renee Hedrick of Decatur; his Shih Tzu Lulu; Brother Kenneth Hedrick of Decatur, IL; Sister Eva Pauline Nichols of Springfield, IL; 11 nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Carl, George and Robert, and 2 sisters Mary Hedrick and Lillian Vowels.
Richard was a good husband and a good father. He loved working in his yard, taking care of his roses. He also enjoyed taking care of his cars and his garden. He was an excellent woodworker. He loved his Shih Tzu Lulu and all his beloved dogs that came before her.
The family has entrusted Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, IL with the arrangements for Richard.
