Richard Allen Hines Sr.'s Obituary
Richard Allen Hines, Sr., of Decatur, Illinois, passed away February 3, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born in Decatur on May 23, 1959, the son of Lee Hines Sr. and Louella Cowans. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and several Good Conduct Medals. He married Loretta Vogel on August 18, 2012, in Decatur. He was an outstanding worker in building construction. In his spare time, he was an avid player of board games, especially chess. He also enjoyed fishing, arts and crafts, music, darts, and cooking. He was a fan of cars and was particularly proud of his yellow Maverick. Richard was a faithful member with his family of First Church of God in Christ in Decatur.
Richard is survived by his wife Loretta; children Richard (Stephanie) Hines Jr. of Decatur, Levron (Letrice) Hines of Decatur, Torran Hines of TN, Richina Hines of Decatur, Raven Hines of Murphysboro, TN, Rachelle Hines of Decatur, and Jacob (Kaitlin) Vogel of Brazil, IN; siblings Gloria Ann Jameson, Audrey Marie Bond, Charles Michael Hines, and Wayne Gregory Hines; a host of beloved grandchildren and one great-grandchild; aunt Sara Cowans; closest nephew and caregiver Scottie Hill; and countless nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee L. Hines Jr.
Homegoing Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 22, at First Church of God in Christ in Decatur. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
