Richard E. Huckaba's Obituary
Decatur-Richard E. “Huck” Huckaba, Sr., 84, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Richard was born September 26, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Orda and Eva (Thompson) Huckaba. He started his career in the electrical business in 1951 as an electrician, and later retired in 1996 as he was previously employed with Flaugher Electric Company. Richard was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting trains, and was a member of the Central Illinois Railroad Club. He married Sarah A. Wood on August 18, 1957. She preceded him in death in 2004.
Richard leaves behind his sons, William (Maggie) Huckaba Yuma, AZ; Richard (April) Huckaba of Illiopolis, IL; James Lee (Sandy) Huckaba of Deerfield Beach, FL; daughter, Eva (Terry) Dickerson of Decatur, IL.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one great grandson.
Services to celebrate Richard’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. December 14, 2015 at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church or the Boy Scouts.
