Richard William King's Obituary
Decatur – Richard William King, 68, of Decatur passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born March 27, 1948, in Decatur, the son of Raymond L. and Florence I. (Gillespie) King. An Army veteran, Richard attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church as a child and worked as a tow truck driver for Soy City Towing.
Surviving are his children: Linda Kay Shepherd, Richard Lee (Phyllis) King, Kathy Ann King and Wayne (Julie) Lackie; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; siblings: Raymond D. King, Frances (John) Knope, James F. (Robin) King and Christopher King; special friend, Jane Lackie and her daughter JoAnn Leevy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Florence Ann Hoffman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Thursday, January 26, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church, Rev. John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn funeral home; vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will take place at 1 pm Friday, January 27, 2017 in Graceland Cemetery.
