Richard L. Bone's Obituary
DECATUR— Richard L. Bone, 88, of Decatur passed away in the early hours of Wednesday (Dec. 24, 2014) at the Hickory Point Christian Village.
Richard was born in Maroa, the second of four children to Ray and Mildred Bone. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1945. Prior to graduating he enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served his country honorably during World War II. In 2009 he participated in the Central Illinois Honor Flight of World War II veterans in Washington, D.C. Returning home after the war he went to work for his father at one of three Ray’s Markets.While working there he married the love of his life, Joyce Moore on Oct. 19, 1947. He retired after 35 years in the Illinois Power Co. gas department in 1988. He and Joyce moved to Green Valley, Ariz., to enjoy the two passions of his life, golf and family. In 1996 they returned to Decatur where they reside.
Surviving are his sons, Richard L. Bone Jr. of Decatur; James (Rita) R. Bone of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; sister, Pat (Bill) Bertsch; sister-in-law, Darlene Bone; grandchildren, Christopher (Karla) Bone, Jeffrey bone and Elizabeth (Greg) Weido, all of Indian Harbour, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Briella, Liliana and Natalia Weido, all of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert
Services to celebrate Richard’s life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
