Richard M. "Mick" Maddox's Obituary
Florida - Richard “Mick” Maddox, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Born on September 20, 1941, the son of Richard and Jeanette Maddox, Mick grew up in Peoria, Illinois, where he attended Richwoods High School.
After high school, Mick proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1959 to 1962. Upon returning home, he attended Bradley University in Peoria before beginning a successful career in sales. He started with Nabisco, later worked for M&M Mars, and eventually became the Vice President and General Manager of Newman & Ullman Inc. in Decatur, Illinois, where he remained until his retirement in 2004.
Mick was first married to Jean Maddox, who preceded him in death. In 1996, he found love again and married Sharon Herrmann, with whom he built a life full of love and adventure.
Mick is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Maddox, and his loving family: son Jeff Maddox (Laura) of California, daughter Cary Maddox-Williford (Mike) of Arizona, stepsons Robert Herrmann (Jamie) of Texas, and Kip Herrmann (Tiffany) of Illinois, stepdaughter Dawn Herrmann-Swearingen of Illinois; grandchildren: JT Arocha, Kevin and Cole Herrmann, Declan and Kallan Swearingen, and Hayleigh Lutes
Mick had a deep passion for life. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, and taking his Corvette for a drive. He and Sharon shared a love for traveling and cherished their time spent in Florida, where they eventually made their home full-time in 2018. Above all, Mick treasured moments with his family and friends. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather whose warmth, kindness, and sense of humor will be missed dearly.
Mick’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
