Richard C. J. Mosier's Obituary
Decatur – Richard C. J. Mosier, 84, of Ozark, MO, formerly of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
Richard was born September 9, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Lester Charles and Julia (Roth) Mosier. Richard was a graduate of Missouri School of Mines where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He married Josephine Peggy Ann Behrle on April 22, 1961.
Richard and his wife raised their children in Decatur, Illinois and lived there for over 50 years before moving to Ozark MO. He worked at A. E. Staley as a chemical engineer until his retirement. Richard and his family were members of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Richard was very involved in his community and church for many years. Richard was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather.
Richard is survived by his wife Peggy Ann Mosier; his son Kenneth Mosier and wife Monica of Galena, MO, daughters; Teresa Ann Upshaw and husband Larry of Paducah KY, and Kristine Upton and partner Todd Schultz of Decatur IL. Richard was grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Richard is survived by two sisters: Virgene and Joan. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Julia Mosier, his brother, and three sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
