Richard Lewis Speidel's Obituary
Richard L. Speidel (Rick) entered the gates of heaven on July 24, 2025. Rick was born May 30, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Gloria (Mathias) Speidel and younger brother Steve.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Debbie; a son, Todd (Wendy), daughter, Jenny (Josh) and daughter, Kimberly; six grandchildren: Dylan, Corey, Zoey, Colton, Chelsea, and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Brinley and Bo; and his oldest brother John.
Being a Navy brat, he moved around many times in his childhood, ending up in his adulthood living in 37 different homes. Rick joined the Marines in 1964 and served 6 years in the Reserves. He retired from ADM in 2009 after 41 years in the grain industry.
Rick’s happy place was in his garage, usually barefooted, building a cannon carriage, woodcarving, or just piddling. He was a Mr. Fix-It, and a Do-It-Yourself kind of guy. He loved fast cars and shooting his cannons. He also loved grilling, and he wore his BBQ well. Rick’s favorite bible verse was 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Rick. A Celebration of Life will be held. Please see the note below from the family. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
From the family:
"We have set the date for Rick's "party": September 6, 2025, 2:00-4:00pm. It will be an informal gathering at our house to share stories and have some laughs. If weather permits, we will be outside. (Bring a lawn chair.) If not, we will be inside."
