Ricki L. "Rick" Jones' Obituary
Mt. Zion-Ricki L. “Rick” Jones, 64, of Mt. Zion, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Rick was born August 5, 1951 in Decatur, the son of Louis Jones and Christena (Hurley) Jones Harmon. He was previously employed as an electrician with Caterpillar, retiring after thirty-eight years of service. He was a member of Mound Road Christian Church, where he served as an elder, UAW Local #751, and the Hickory Point Tuesday Night Golf League. He was a faithful Christian and avid reader of the bible. He was an eagle scout and in his younger years enjoyed bowling and baseball. Rick was a lover of golf and a master woodworker. He owned/operated S&R Wood Creations. He married Sherri (Price) Skelton April 15, 2000.
Rick leaves behind his wife Sherri, children Matthew Jones, David (Kari) Jones, Aaron “AJ” (Darci) Jones, Amber (Karl) Kemnitz, Zackary “Zak” Jones, Gregory (Amy) Skelton, and Stacey (Josh) Longfellow, brother Lee (Cheryl) Jones, sister Cheryl (Dan) Long, grandchildren Christopher and Kolton Jones, Braden Crosby, Xander and Isabelle Jones, Kalin (Nicholas) Gordon, Ashlyn and Payton Skelton, and Mackenzie, Jeric, and Chloe Longfellow, and beloved dogs Kiera and Molly.
Rick was reunited in Heaven with his parents and niece.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Prairie Heart Institute for their compassionate care and to their Mound Road Christian Church Family for all of their prayers and support.
Services to celebrate Rick’s life will be 11 AM Friday, April 22, 2016 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in Rick’s honor are suggested to the family in care of Sherri Jones to help with medical expenses.
