Robert Joseph "Bob" Brilley II's Obituary
Decatur – Robert Joseph “Bob” Brilley II, 77, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Bob was born in Decatur, IL, on April 22,1949, to Robert J. and Thelma L. (Miller) Brilley Sr. A union electrician, Bob was a long-time commissioner and past president of the Decatur Park District Board. He was an electrician for the IBEW and retired in May of 2011, was an avid supporter and advocate for the Decatur Park District Senior Center and all seniors in Macon County. Bob was a passionate fundraiser for many charities including the American Cancer Society, United Way, and Richland Community College. He enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Bob was a DYHA “Super Fan.”
On any given weekend you could find him at the Devon or driving from park to park to make sure things were in check.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister’s Barbara Brilley and Sandy Jennings.
Surviving is his son Shane (Amy) Brilley of Decatur; grandchildren: Lizzy (Drake) Lambdin, Cayden Brilley, and Christian Brilley; great grandchildren: Brooks and Eloise; sisters: Susie (Jim) Peck of Decatur and Cecilia Henrich of O’Fallon, IL; longtime friend Linda Brilley of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 10. 2026, from 10 am until the service time of 11 am, at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Macon County Senior Center. Bob requested NO Flowers.
Bob’s family would like to thank the owners and staff of Everyone’s East End Grill for keeping him fed and treating him like family as well as the Decatur Park District Board & community for supporting him and welcoming him with open arms.
