Robert Burlington's Obituary
Decatur- Robert Burlington, 73, of Decatur passed away Monday, November 08, 2010 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
In keeping with Bob's wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Resurrection Life Church, 1085 W. McKinley. Private graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois. Bob was born September 9, 1937 in Toledo, Illinois, the son of Otis and Mildred (Spann) Burlington. He proudly served his country as a photographer in the U.S. Navy from June of 1955 to June of 1963. He retired from Mueller Company after thirty-six years of service. He married Beverly Schieber on February 15, 1964.
He leaves behind his wife Beverly, sons; Robert Burlington and wife Marlene of Williams, Arizona and Mark Burlington of Rockford, Illinois, daughter; Mary Ann Burlington of Decatur, step-son; Rex Betts of Decatur, sisters; Melba Emery of Odessa, Texas, Mary Lou Ward and husband Don of Phoenix, Arizona, Faye Davis and husband Wayne of Phoenix, Arizona, half-sister; Julia Gunn and husband Terry of Cottleville, Missouri, grandchildren; Tyler, Ashley, Brandon, Caleb, Levi, and Amanda the pride and joy of his life, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother; Joseph 'Don'.
We will always remember his quick wit and giving heart. He sure enjoyed all his friends at the DISC. Bob always put others needs before his own. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend.
