Decatur-Robert Ray Henderson, 80, of Decatur, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in the Emergency Room at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors and “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or the South Wheatland Fire Department. Bob was born December 6, 1928 in Decatur, the son of Ray J. and Getty (Stivers) Henderson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a pattern maker at Mueller Company retiring after forty-one years of service. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and loved the outdoors. He married Margaret Lipka August 15, 1951.
He leaves behind Margaret his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, son; Robert Henderson and wife Amy of Palm Harbor, Florida, daughters; Peggy Sites and husband Jeff of Moweaqua, and Lori Eaton and husband Jim of Indianapolis, Indiana, Grandchildren; Matt Sites and fiancé Lindsay Elam, Molly Sites, Libby, Ashley, Jordan, Jake, and Katie Henderson, great-grandchildren; Natalie Adams and Aiden and Griffin Sites.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, who always put his family first.
