Decatur-Robert W. Jackson, 75, of Decatur passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Robert will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at North Fork Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. Interment with “Flight Home” ceremony will follow after the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Robert was born March 7, 1935 in Decatur, Illinois the son of Robert and Jane (Thompson) Jackson. He retired from the Laborers Local 159. He loved the saying): ” Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely and in an attractive body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand a martini in the other, body thoroughly worn out and screaming ‘Woohoo, what a ride!”. He married Linda Smith September 24, 1961.
He leaves behind to share his memory, wife; Linda, sons: Duane and wife Barb of Decatur, and Robby of Decatur, daughters; Lana Rigg of Decatur and Shelly Jackson of Bethany, brothers; Leroy of Monterey, CA and James of Decatur, sisters; Frieda White and Husband Bill of Michigan and Evelyn Hillard and husband James of Decatur, grandchildren; Robert, LaRee, Kelsey, Jamie, Jenna, and Loren, 3 great-grandchildren, and favorite aunt, Betty Johnson.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Tianna.
