Robert John Dietz's Obituary
Robert John Dietz, Sr., 67 of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
Robert was born June 26, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa to Robert Homer and Lucille Catherine (Biermann) Dietz. He married Judy Widener on November 23, 1968, in Fulton, IL. Robert was employed at ADM for 49 years and spent the last 26 years as a Lab Supervisor for Bio Products. He was involved with coaching Northwest Baseball and served on the board for many years. He was a big fan of sports and loved cheering on the Fighting Illini, Yankees, Cubs, Packers and the Lakers. He also enjoyed watching old western movies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy; his mother, Lucille Dietz of Fulton, IL; five children, Robert J. Dietz, Jr. of Fulton, IL, James J. Dietz of Schaumburg, IL, Amie J. (Kurt) Miller of Lindenhurst, IL, Mandie J. Dietz of Decatur, IL and Tim J. Dietz of Decatur, IL; five grandchildren, Lindsey and Sabrina Bly, Klayton and Pearson Miller and Emma Blickensderfer; two brothers, John Dietz of Clinton, IA and Mike Dietz of Fulton, IL; three sisters, Barb (Bob) Turner of Fulton, IL Trish (Dave) Shear of Fulton, IL and Kathy (Rod) Hamm of Fulton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Tom Dietz.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and the emergency staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Robert John Dietz, Sr. will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
