Robert was born to Virgil and Helen (Stauder) High on February 18, 1944 in Decatur, IL. He loved his brother, Stephen and sister, Margery very much and often told stories from their youth. Bob also had many close friends from school including Gary Gregory with whom he may or may not have participated in a few shenanigans.
Robert was a graduate of MacArthur high School, and Millikin university. He met his wife, Paulette (Pritts) when they both worked at Haines & Essick. They were married on November 23, 1967 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Bob was a loving father to his son, Ryan (Susan) High, and daughter, Betsy (Lucas) Crockett. He enjoyed the simple things in life like building his home, mowing his lawn, vacationing in Clearwater Beach, FL, hunting for mushrooms, telling silly jokes, and being a father and grandfather. He loved classic cars, especially Corvettes and Mustangs. He was also an animal lover. He had many dogs, rabbits, flying squirrels, cats, and pet fish by his side throughout his life. However, he was also a bit of a rebel and lived his life to the fullest!
Surviving are his wife, Paulette (Pritts), son, Ryan (Susan), daughter, Betsy (Lucas) Crockett, brother, Stephen (Patricia) High, sister, Margery Kane, special nieces and nephews Kristine (Bob) Storts, Leslie (Gregory) Erickson, Brad (Alane Renfrow) High, Jeffery (Kris) High, his devoted grandchildren, neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Robert’s family would like to thank the nurses, activity directors, and doctors at Sullivan Health care, Heartland, and Generations at McKinley Place Nursing homes for taking such good care of him, and Father John Burnette for his kindness to us all.
In the end, Bob High loved and was loved by many people, and it was an honor and privilege to know and love him in good times and in bad.
