Robert Duane "Bob" Long's Obituary
Robert Duane “Bob” Long, 83, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away December 11, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Bob was born in Decatur on June 2, 1942, the son of Donald and Gladys (Baldwin) Long. He married Karen Mize on January 14, 1962, in Decatur.
Bob was an outstanding salesman who used his skills in real estate and other businesses. He enjoyed building model cars and golfing. His favorite pastime was mowing yards for his family, his neighbors, and his church. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his wife Karen; children Laurie (Jeffrey) Lyon of Decatur and Greg (Cindy) Long of Decatur; grandchildren Michael (Andrea) Long, Jonathan Lyon, Amanda (Adam) Pease, Michelle (Frank) Schnetzler, John T. (Bryanda) Shepherd, and Devin (Ricky) Bales; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Frink.
Services for Bob will be held at Central Baptist Church in Decatur. Visitation will be from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, December 18, and the funeral service will be at 10am on Friday, December 19. Burial in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to Central Baptist Church. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
