Robert "Bob" M. Shaw's Obituary
Robert “Bob” M. Shaw, 67, of Decatur, passed away, Sunday, February 7, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, with his family by his side.
Bob was born on August 3, 1948 in Davenport , IA the son of Raymond and Charlene (Mascall) Shaw. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later retired from Comcast as an engineering technician, serving over 41 years of service. He was a member of many bands that included; Flatland, Pure Gravy, Vintage, Shady Lady & the Moon Cats. Bob enjoyed playing drums, fishing, camping, boating, and racing cars with his son. He married Gennine Althoff on June, 2, 1992 in Decatur , Illinois. They shared 23 wonderful years together.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Gennine Shaw of Decatur; son, Stephen (Kandi) Shaw of Decatur; daughters, Stacey (Elton) Jackson of Decatur, Brianna Shaw (Paul Cunningham) of Decatur; grandchildren, Darian, Makenzie, Natalie, Morgan, Kailyn, Bryceson, Tyler, Addison, Emma, Paul Jr. ; great-grandson, Kylen , a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and other extended family members, and also his faithful canine companion, Snowie and his faithful feline companion, Schrader.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, James Shaw.
Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6p.m. – 8p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Family requests casual attire. Memorial donations are suggested to the wishes of the family in care of Gennine Shaw.
