Robert A. Summers' Obituary
Decatur-Robert A. Summers, 74, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in his home with his family by his side.
Bob was born March 14, 1943 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Archie and Marian (White) Summers. He proudly served his country in the USAF during Vietnam. Bob was a mail carrier with the USPS retiring with over twenty-five years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts of America. Bob enjoyed fishing and leatherwork. He married Cindy Stuckey April 25, 1981. They shared over thirty-six years together.
Bob leaves behind his wife Cindy, sons Robert, William and wife Beth, and Brent Summers, brother James Summers and wife Annette, and granddaughters Naomi and Annabell Summers.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bob’s life will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2017 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 2400 S Franklin Street Rd, Decatur, with the Very Rev. Joseph M. Molloy, V.F. celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Bob’s grandchildren’s education fund in care of Cindy Summers.
