Thompson, Robert's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Thompson, 89, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Decatur, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 30, 1936, the son of Weldon and Bertie (Isbell) Thompson.
Bob married his beloved wife, Anne Thompson, on August 7, 1965, in La Marque, TX. He was an actor, dancer, and theater lover, earning his Master of Fine Arts degree and working as a university theater instructor for 6 years. He was a private theater instructor for decades. Bob was a man of faith, belonging to Unity Church. He loved to read and was a lifelong scholar of philosophy, spirituality, and religion. Above all else, his greatest love and accomplishment was his loving family.
Bob is survived by his wife — Anne Thompson; children — Lisa Thompson, Lara Thompson, Joe Thompson, and Robert (Noelle) Thompson, Jr.; grandchildren — Shane (Veronica) Johnson, Josh (Mary) Thompson, Brittannee (Kyle) Williams, Jordyn Thompson, Nimue Thompson, Psyche Thompson, and Story Thompson; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their care and comfort.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; grandson — Shannon Johnson; and Aunt Kathleen.

A visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, IL.
