Robert L. Weger's Obituary
Robert Lowell Weger, 93, of Decatur, IL passed away on November 16, 2018 at Heritage Health and Senior Care of Mt. Zion, IL. Robert was born October 30, 1925 to Beulah Jane and John Robert Weger of Decatur, IL. He was a 35 year member of Operating Engineer’s Local 965, Springfield, IL. He was well known as Weger the digger in the work force.
Robert married Shirley Bates of Decatur on October 14, 1951. She preceded him on January 16, 2018. Robert was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Illini fan.
Robert is survived by: son, Robin (Judy) of Decatur, daughters, Debra of Decatur, Alyson of Decatur; granddaughter, Ginger Mascari Stark, North Carolina, great grandson, Quentin Mascari, Virginia and great granddaughter, Ashlyn Jackson of Tennessee. He also leaves behind his loving dog, Carmel and cat, Pippy.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Heritage for the wonderful care Robert received during his stay. Many thanks to longtime friends, Bob and Judy Galka of Decatur, and pastor, Amy Zeitlow of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, SPAHA and many friends. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday November 27, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church of charity of the donor’s choice.
