Rod E. Griffeth's Obituary
Rodney E. “Rod” Griffeth, 74, of Decatur, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Friday, December 18, 2024, with his wife of 43 years by his side.
He was born on December 12, 1950, in Keokuk, Iowa, to the late Louis Griffeth and Annabelle Knobbs Griffeth Lovell. He married Brenda Peterson on June 20, 1981, in Decatur, Illinois.
Rod worked as an operating engineer for Christy-Foltz, Inc. for over 30 years. He retired at 55 but never stopped working. He was always in his garage working on his next project. His passions were his family, his motorcycle, NASCAR, and of course, his Cubs and Bears.
In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by: sons, Brian (Melissa) Griffeth of Tampa, FL, Ben Griffeth of Sherman, IL, and Jarod Griffeth of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Debbie Burns of Pennsylvania; and grandchildren, Ethan, Amanda, Connor, Heidi, Matthew, Mason, and Remy.
Visitation for Rod Griffeth will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. The family requests that those attending please bring their best story about Rod to share during the memorial, which begins at 2:00 p.m.
