Rodger Dale Gilbert's Obituary
Decatur-Rodger Dale Gilbert, 57, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Rodger was born January 24, 1957 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Robert L. Sr. and Audrey (Ricci) Gilbert. He was previously employed with Eisners and Jewell Osco for over twenty years and then with Decatur Memorial Hospital for sixteen years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and an avid bowler, bowling a 299 and two perfect 300 games, fisherman, and deer hunter. He enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He married Lori Douglas March 15, 1986. They shared over twenty-eight years together.
Rodger leaves behind his wife Lori, daughters April Marie Johnston and Sherry Elizabeth Reimer and husband Timothy Jr., grandchildren Isaiah Michael, Nevaeh Marie, and Johnnie James, mother Audrey Gilbert, brothers Robert L. Gilbert Jr. and James A. Gilbert and wife Debera, and sister Donna Van Natta.
Rodger was reunited in Heaven with his father and grandparents.
Memorial services to celebrate Rodger’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1177 West Hickory Point Road Decatur and also 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1833 S Country Club Rd Decatur. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family in care of Lori Gilbert.
