Rodney Lynn Morville's Obituary
Rodney Lynn Morville, 71, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 10:32 P.M. on Sunday (12-31-2023) at McClean County Nursing Home.
Rodney was born on August 24, 1952, the son of Roy Morville Jr. and Mildred (Standerfer) Morville.
Rodney went to Stephen Decatur High School and was a true Runnin’ Red. During high school he was called “Rapid Rod” and was the manager of the sports teams at the school. He served in the Civil Air Patrol for three years and then later served his country in the United States Air Force from October 2, 1972, until August 18, 1976. During that time, he was stationed in Lackland, TX, San Antonio, TX, Izmir, Turkey and at Chanute Air Force base in Rantoul, IL. Rodney was also a member of the American Legion Post #105 Decatur, IL. Rodney worked at Millikin University from May of 1987 to September of 2016 and retired after twenty-nine and a half years of service. He was a big fan of Millikin basketball, Illinois sports teams, Cardinals baseball and the Chicago Bears.
Rodney is survived by his siblings: Carolyn DeLaughter of Decatur, IL, Timothy Morville of Warrensburg, IL, Allan Morville and wife Judie of Mt. Zion, IL, Shelley Jo West of Fairfield, IL, Barbara Tapia of Phoenix, AZ, James Kelshelmer of Phoenix, AZ, and stepbrother Randy Clark of Decatur, IL.; Nieces: Gimette DeLaughter of Atlanta, Georgia, Kimberly Whitt and husband Bill of Decatur, IL, Teri Walton and husband Travis of Decatur, IL, Mallory Fischer of Decatur, IL, Mandy Morville of Lake St. Louis, MO, and Chloe Clark of Decatur, IL; 7 great nieces and nephews and many aunt’s uncle’s and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepbrother Scott Clark and his dog Jackpot whom he loved very much.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Decatur Animal Clinic or the Macon County Cancer Society.
Graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL, at a later date.
