Decatur-Rodney L. Perkins, 53, of Decatur passed away 12:55 pm Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
Graveside services to celebrate Rodney's life will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 13, 2010 at Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Joel Ruppert officiating. The 'Flight Home' will conclude services. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm until time of service at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be directed to the wishes of the family. Rodney was born October 19, 1956 in Beardstown, IL the son of Chuck and Kay (Jones) Perkins. Rodney was a graduate of Eisenhower High School with the 'Class of 1975'. Rodney worked as a self employed mechanic. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed country rides, motor cycles and motor cross.
Left behind to cherish Rodney's memories are his wife Jeannie of Decatur, his son Lee Perkins of Decatur, his daughter Mindy Perkins of Decatur, his parents Chuck and Kay (Jones) Perkins of Augusta, IL; his mother-in-law Joyce Ribley of Decatur, his sisters Sherrill (husband Chris) Keune of Springfield, IL and Lori (husband Bill) Long of Kirksville, MO and his five special grandchildren Kyly Kaylor, Darrin Kaylor, Avoree Dhermy, Delaney Fry, and TJ Perkins; and a long time friend Marcus Bruns of Decatur.
Rodney was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents George and Marie Jones and his father-in-law Ron Perry.
