Roger Lee Schafer's Obituary
Roger Lee Schafer, 76, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at his home.
Roger was born in Peoria on October 2, 1943 to Kenneth and Virginia (Stout) Schafer. He married Cathy Hollingsead on June 11, 1983: she survives. Also surviving are his two daughters: Kimberly (Bryon) Burns of Decatur, Melanie (Rapp) Shaun of Decatur; one sister: Ronna Lee (Michael)Fisher of Elkhart, IN; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
Roger graduated from Argenta Oreana High School, he then attended Calvary Bible Baptist College in Kansas City. He was employed by Caterpillar for 32 years. He was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church. Roger enjoyed working on 57 Chevys and woodworking.
The family wishes to thank DMH Hospice for all their compassion shown.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Riverside Baptist Church, visitation will be from 10-11 am on Friday at the church. Private inurnment in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Riverside Baptist Church.
