Roma L. Thompson's Obituary
Roma L. Thompson, 87, of Decatur, passed away April 3, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Roma was born in Sparta, Illinois on February 4, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Austin) Lewis. She married George H. Thompson II on April 7, 1955 in Marissa, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Roma was a feisty woman who passed that trait along to her children. She was a dedicated homemaker whose favorite activities Bingo, board games, spending time with her family, and feeding the deer and squirrels in the area. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Roma is survived by her daughters Debbie Davis, Linda Cambruzzi, Patricia Sarkis, and Thenda Thompson; one sister; one great-aunt; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son George H. Thompson III, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Roma. A memorial visitation will be held from 12pm to 1pm on Tuesday, April 25 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home and will be followwed by a funeral service at 1pm. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be given in her honor to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
