Ronald E. Holden's Obituary
Decatur – Ronald E. “Ron” Holden, 86, of Decatur, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 in Decatur.
Ron was born September 14, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, the son of John W. and Winifred A. (Hackett) Holden. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and Korean War, Ron was member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. He worked as a special agent for Hartford Insurance before retiring in 1984 and was very active with the Boy Scouts many years ago serving as assistant Scout Master for Troop #1. Ron married Helen A. Roof on May 31, 1954 in Paducah, KY.
Surviving is his wife, Helen of Decatur; children: Stephen (Starr) Holden of Decatur, Paul (Nancy) Holden of Mt. Zion, and David (Julia) Holden of Cooper City, FL; grandchildren: Mike, Matt, Joy, Rachel, Alex, Kaley, Phillip, and Evan and great grandchild Ellie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Michael, and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. Burial with military rites will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Fair Havens Nursing Home Activities Department or U.S. Emergency Chaplains Corps. P.O. Box 1183, Decatur, IL 62525.
