Ronald C Gosda's Obituary
Ronald Charles Gosda, 74, of Forsyth, passed away at 9:40 PM on June 17, 2021 at Decatur Memorial hospital.
Ronald was born April 19, 1947 in Aurora, IL the son of Charles Raymond and Dorothy Louise Kindred Gosda. Ronald married Linda M. Austin on February 13, 1967. Ronald is survived by his mother, Dorothy Gosda; children: Jeffrey (Melissa) Gosda and Melissa (James) McKee; grandchildren: Caeleb, Savannah, Nalah, Dax, and Zane; brothers, Mark (Betty) Gosda and Greg (Laurie) Gosda; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Ronald was preceded in death by his father and one sister Linda Gosda-Flemming.
Ronald was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Ronald proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 36yrs. While working for Caterpillar he served as a union steward and after his retirement he was very active in the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Ronald also volunteered for the Boy Scouts, School Community Club, Caterpillar union events, and various church events. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and stained glass.
Services to celebrate Ronald’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday (June 23, 2021) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the services at the church. Ronald will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Center of Decatur, Disabled Veterans of Decatur, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
