Ronald J. Lowry's Obituary
Decatur-Ronald James (Jim) Lowry, 72, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Fair Havens Christian Home. Jim was born August 15, 1939, the son of William and Dorothy (Coleman) Lowry. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea, from 1958-1960.
Jim was a mechanic, working for various companies, including El Bauer Chevrolet and Perry Thomas Lincoln Mercury. He loved Country Music and playing bass guitar with his brother Bill and son-in-law Dale in the band, Raisin' Cain, making many friends along the way. He loved watching Chicago Bears Football and was a die-hard Cub fan.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Dale) Moyer, Decatur, Brenda (Kevin) Moss, Seminole, FL, and Susie (Steve) Nickels, Muncie, IN, sons, Randall (Sanai) Lowry, Arnassas Pass, TX, and Robert Lowry, FL. Grandchildren, Ty, Ross (Susannah), and Danny (Erin) Moyer, Ryan (Kayla) and Jason Waite, Joel (Katina), Emily and Hannah Nickels, Joshua and Kayla Lowry. Five great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild due the day after his birthday that he never got the chance to meet. He is also survived by his brother, Philip (Marilyn) Lowry, sister, Sandra Kornewald, sister-in-law, Sheila Lowry, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and brother, William (Bill) Lowry.
Jim was a very generous man and would give you anything he thought you needed, even if it meant going without himself.
Honoring Jim's wishes cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Fair Havens Nursing Home, or the donor's choice.
