Ronald W. Lyon's Obituary
DECATUR – Ronald Wayne Lyon 76, of Maroa passed peacefully at 7:58A.M. Friday July 21, 2023 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski. Private graveside services will be held at a future date. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Vonderlieth Living Center. Condolences to the Lyon family may be made online at www.gracelandfairlawn.com. Ron was born February 24, 1947 in Elkton, KY., the son of Ralph and Pauline (Boyd) and step-son of Dorothy (Peavler) Starnes. He married Lenora Lyon on July 2, 1966. Ron retired from Caterpillar in Decatur after 30 years of employment. Those who knew Ronnie well appreciated his love of nature and sense of humor. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and boating. Ron was mechanically inclined and helped anyone in need of a hand. He also loved to tinker had a special affinity for two-part epoxy, the ugly green kind, and used it liberally. Ronnie was beyond proud of his only son, especially for providing his only grandchild. PaPa Ronnie took joy in spoiling her and is still bragging about her to everyone in Heaven. He is survived by his son, Shaun B. Lyon and his wife Heather, and granddaughter Hanna of DeWitt, IL; brother Jeffrey D. Lyon (Laurie) of Decatur, IL. nephews and nieces Matthew Lyon (Rachel) Amanda Lyon; Clinton Lyon (Miriam); Michael Long (Andrea); and Jonathan Lyon, several cousins and friends as close as brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife Lenora, brothers (Charles and Paul) and parents Ralph and Pauline. Special thanks to the caring nurses and staff of Vonderlieth Living Center.
