Ronald Dean McCoy's Obituary
Ronald Dean McCoy, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2024, as a result of cancer.
Ronald was born in West Allis, WI, on May 19, 1935, He graduated from Lovington High School in 1953 and married Nelda F. Friese at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson in 1960. They had three sons, Stanley, Brian, and Steven. Ronald served in the United States Army from 1958-60. He retired from A.E. Staley in 1993.
Ronald is survived by his wife Nelda (Decatur) and sons: Stan and Kara (Thorne Bay, AK), Brian and Michele (Montgomery, IL), and Steve and Sandy (Naperville, IL); granddaughters Ella, Olivia, Kyleigh, and Payton; grandson Liam. Also surviving are many siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws and dear friends. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry, sister Beverly, two infant sons and one infant daughter.
Ron was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for camping, fishing, and playing cards. He was a 60+ year member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and was diehard Cardinals and Fighting Illini fan.
A funeral service will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur, IL, 62526 on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Keller Cemetery in Lovington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Camp CILCA (4124 Camp CILCA Road, Cantrall, IL, 62625); or American Heart Association.
