Ronald C. "Ron" Crist's Obituary
Macon – Ronald C. “Ron” Crist, Sr., 68, of Macon, passed away, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Ron was born August 23, 1946, in Decatur, the son of Ronald and Lucille (Kern) Crist. He served two tours in the Army during the Viet Nam War and worked as a union laborer for Christy-Foltz until retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Laborer’s Union #159 and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, grilling, dancing and listening to music.
Surviving are his children: Cindy (John) Leavelle of Hammond, Ronnie Crist of Decatur, Shane (Sheena) Crist of Arizona and Chuck Crist of Macon; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Cotton, Dorothy Waltz, and Pat Brady all of Decatur, and Phyllis (Robert) Jackson of Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the funeral home. Burial with military rites will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald C. Crist, Sr. Memorial Fund.
