Ronald C. Sutton's Obituary
Decatur- Ronald Sutton, 80, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
A service to celebrate the life of Ronald will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012. At Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with a visitation from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery Mary Queen of Angels Mausoleum following Military Rites and 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church.
Ronald was born April 25, 1932, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Claude and Gertrude (Kane) Sutton. He graduated from Decatur High in 1950, and proudly served his country from 1950-54 in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar after 37 years as a Machinist, and worked for Decatur Auto Auction, and was self-employed forming the company S&S Crafts. Ronald was a member of the Soy City Campers, National Campers and Hikers Association, Family Campers and RV'ers, Kentucky Colonels, and Grace United Methodist Church. He married Ida Mae Nichols on December 1, 1951.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughters, Linda (Robert) Sattley of Mt. Zion, Barbara (Gary) Wood of Decatur, Debbie Patterson of McMinnville, TN, and Sheryl Sutton of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren, Jonathon (Amy) Wood of Nashville, TN, Carrie (Patterson) McKinley of LaVergne, TN, Heather (Jarred) Johnson of Mt. Zion, Christopher Wood of Decatur, Andrea Patterson of Mesquite, TX, Jeffrey(Rachel)Sattley of Bethany, Lindsey Patterson of Nashville, TN, Cory(Jessica)Sattley of Mt. Zion, and Brittany Patterson of Rock Island, TN, great-grandchildren, Keana Patterson, Logan Wood, Sebastian Carron, Ivan Johnson, Breelyn Collingwood, Liyah Johnson, Lillian Sattley, Erin Johnson, MaKayla Sattley, Waylon Austell, Cody Austell, and Rachel Ralph; great- great-grandchild; Keeley Austell; sister, Betty Harmon of Decatur; brother, Richard Minix of Arizona, and several nieces, nephews, sisters- in- law, and brothers- in -law.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leo Minix, and Robert (Bob) Minix, mother-in-law Martha Nichols, father-in-law Horace Nichols.
Ronald will be missed by all his camping & crafting friends.
