Ronald Thompson's Obituary
Ronald Thompson, 80, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Ron was born on June 3, 1943 in Decatur, IL to Vera and Clarence Thompson. He grew up and raised his family in Decatur after marrying his wife, Laurie Heffernan, on February 22, 1964.
Ron was the co-owner of Thompson Brothers Drywall for many years. He was an avid fisherman, lover of delicious food, and never turned down a chance to throw a $20 bill into a slot machine. There was nothing Ron loved more than his family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laurie Thompson, daughter, Krista Pittenger, brother Loren Thompson, grandchildren Jarid (Colleen) Thompson of Tampa Florida, Jade Joseph of Gresham Oregon, Kaylee (Jake) Sigmon of Mount Zion Illinois, Trace (Rachel) Anderson of Sacramento, CA, great-grandchildren Remi and Brixton Thompson, Jack Joseph, and Dawson Sigmon and niece Sandra Brown of Phoenix, Arizona.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his son Darin Thompson of Decatur, IL, and his nephew Donald Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona.
