Ronald Eugene Wharton's Obituary
Ronald Eugene Wharton, 72, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 12:09 a.m. on Thursday, (01/30/2025) in Fair Havens Senior Living.
Ronald was born on July 18, 1952, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Dewey L. Wharton, Sr. and Ladonna (Bailey) Wharton.
Ronald served faithfully at First Baptist Church in Macon, IL where he was a member. In his early years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working with electronics and computers. Ronald was employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 41 years as an electrician and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #146.
He is survived by his children: Christopher E. Wharton of Decatur, IL, and Dawn (Wharton) Stanley of Mooresville, NC; two brothers: Gary Wharton of Decatur, IL, and Keith (Pam) Wharton of Mt. Zion, IL; two sisters: Teresa (Gary) Jostes of Macon, IL, and Christine Risley of Decatur, IL; and grandchildren: Hunter and Cheyenne Stanley of Mooresboro, NC.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: William, Chester and Dewey Wharton, Jr. and one sister Sharon Wharton.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (2/5/2025) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service time. The burial will be at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL.
