Decatur-Rosa Mathilde Brown, 93, of Decatur, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Rosa's life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church, 742 E. Clay St. Decatur, with Father John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:40 p.m. Burial with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Ss James and Patrick Parish.
Rosa was born November 8, 1918 in Schwetzingen, Germany, the daughter of Arno Rino Hilmar and Eugenie (Blumenfeld) Werner. Before her marriage she was employed with Heinkel Aeronautics in Warnemünde, Germany. She then became a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She was a member of the Parish Community of Ss James and Patrick. She was an avid traveler that traveled all around the world. She loved knitting crocheting, baking, and her church. She married Robert Eugene Brown October 10, 1950. He preceded her in death August 14, 1990.
She leaves behind her daughter Rose Eubanks and husband John of Decatur, sons Robert Reno Brown and wife Janet of Decatur, Steven Brown and wife Sheila of Decatur, Samuel Ray Brown of Silvis, Illinois, and Thomas Emerson Brown of Decatur, sisters Hildegard Lisiecki and husband Juan of Germany and Emmi Krystians of Germany, twenty-six grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, brother Helmut Rino Werner, daughter-in-law Retha Brown, and granddaughter Candace Roseanne Eubanks.
