Rose M. (Elliff) Neathery's Obituary
Decatur – Rose M. (Elliff) Neathery, 91, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur, IL.
Rose was born September 23, 1926, in Grove City, IL, the daughter of John Lee and Georgianna (Smart) Bratcher. She was married to William T. Elliff January 1948, and he passed away April 22, 1970. She then married Ralph E. Neathery, November 24, 1971, and he passed away August 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Charles, Ray, Ernest, and Earl Bratcher; sisters: Leona Ross, Helen Perkins, and Grace Shofner; and grandson, Greg Freeman.
Surviving are her four children: Marilyn Kellogg of Oakley, Marsha (Jeff) Freeman of Mt. Zion, William “Randy” (Diane) Elliff of Niantic, and Emily (Mike) Tindill of Clinton; grandchildren: William (Meredith) Crafton, Don Gillespey, Tom (Laura) Kellogg, John Kellogg, Rodney (Misty) Freeman, Mike Freeman, Cindy (Rick) Nystrom, Becky (Scott) Ford, Heather (Jack) Dykes, Sarah (Jason) Earl, Elizabeth Heady (Kelly Huser), and Laura (Patrick) Elliff Cruz; fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends the Rawlings family; and her beloved cats: Blackie and Fannie Mae.
Rose was a member of Weldon Baptist Church and retired from Kirby Hospital in Monticello. Rose’s hobbies were gardening, doll collecting, and thrift-shopping with her sisters and daughters.
Services to celebrate Rose’s life will be 3 pm, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Clive Shreve officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services with burial in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Weldon Baptist Church, Weldon, IL 61882.
