Roy Edward Dodd's Obituary
Decatur-Roy Edward Dodd, 85, of Decatur, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at McKinley Court Care Centre.
Graveside services to celebrate Roy's life will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Macon County Memorial Park with Don Estep officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church. Roy was born December 16, 1924, in Springfield the son of Floyd W. and Alice (White) Dodd. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He Retired from Illinois Bell after 42 years of service never missing a day of work. He was a member and former trustee of Riverside Baptist Church. He married Dorothea W. Windle August 10, 1947 in Newton. She preceded him in death October 8, 2009.
He leaves behind daughters; Linda Ringel and husband Michael of Decatur and Marla Newman and husband Dennis of Bloomington, sons; Stephen Dodd and wife Sue of Decatur and John T. Dodd and wife Linda of Davenport, Iowa, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife, two brothers and grandson. Roy dedicated his life to his country, his church and his family. Roy is already greatly missed.
