Roy E. Riggs' Obituary
Roy Eugene Riggs, 80, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Decatur.
Roy was born June 12, 1932 in Fall Branch, TN, the son of Clyde and Opal (Cornwell) Riggs. He worked at A.E. Staley Manufacturing for 39 years. In his spare time he liked to work on antique cars and whittle wood. He married Lorraine Goldmann on May 7, 1955 in Decatur, IL. She survives.
Roy leaves behind his wife, Lorraine; sons, Michael (Karen) Riggs of Decatur; Gary (Jill) Riggs of Tremont, IL; sister, Nancy (Dean) Waller of Fall Branch, TN; grandchildren, Jeremy Walters; Shelby Riggs; Jessey Riggs; Nathan Riggs; Jason Riggs; and great-grandchildren, Faith and Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter Riggs; Larry Riggs; sister, Dorothy Moody; and one grandson, Eli Davis Riggs.
Services to celebrate Roy’s life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 12:30 – 2 p.m. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Roy’s memory may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
