Royal W. Zindel's Obituary
Decatur- Royal W. Zindel, 88, of Decatur, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Royal was born November 5, 1926 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Samuel “Ed” and Pansy (Cole) Zindel. Royal proudly served for his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, Royal worked at Mississippi Valley Structural Steel Co as an Assistant Plant Superintendent. He was a member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge in Moweaqua, Springfield Consistory and Ansar Shrine. He also belonged to the Macon County Prime Timers, and Illinois Vintage Car Club. Royal married Mildred Jacobs on November 13, 1954 in Assumption, IL . They shared sixty wonderful years together. He was loved dearly, and will be missed.
Royal leaves behind his wife, Mildred “Millie” Zindel; son, Dr. Jacob (Dr. Wendy) Zindel of Ann Arbor, MI; grandson, Aaron Zindel; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters, and parents.
Services to celebrate the life of Royal’s will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Graceland Star of Hope Mausoleum. Family requested no flowers please.
