Ruby Mae Fyke's Obituary
Decatur-Ruby Mae Fyke, 87, of Decatur, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center.
Services to celebrate Ruby's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
Ruby was born June 30, 1924 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky the daughter of Walter and Mary (Hammer) Proffitt. She was previously employed with St. Mary's Hospital retiring after seventeen years of service. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed rummage and garage sales. She married Oval Richard Fyke, Jr. in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She leaves behind her sons, Daniel and wife Linda of Decatur, Jerry and wife Gabby of Argenta, Gary and wife Brenda of Decatur, and Franklin of Decatur, daughter, Judy Campbell and husband John of Decatur, sister, Audrey Geddes of Decatur, fifteen grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, loving companion of over 37 years Eddie Goodrich, son Donald, brother Oral Proffitt, sister Irene Stewart, two grandsons, and a great-granddaughter.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Heartland Health Care Center especially Shonda for all of their loving care.
