Ruby F. Quandt's Obituary
Decatur – Ruby F. Quandt, 96, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Vonderlieth Living Center, Mt. Pulaski, IL.
Ruby was born February 1, 1927, in Concord, NC, the daughter of Arthur J. and Dora Alice (Hartsell) McDonald. A member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, she married Wilbert Carl Quandt on December 7, 1946, in Woodland, WI, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2014. Ruby worked as an overseas operator for Western Union before going to work as the secretary at Grace Lutheran Church in Paris, IL. She then worked as a legal secretary for a law firm in Paris, IL.
In addition to her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her brothers: Bertie, Millard, Lewis and Wade McDonald and sisters: Viola Jewell and Beatrice Smith.
Surviving is her son, Gary Quandt (Nancy) of Forsyth; daughter, Sherry Egan (John) of Decatur; grandchildren, Kris Quandt (Cheryl) of Severance, CO; Casey Scott (Jason) of Rockwall, TX; Ben Egan (Jodi) of Loveland, OH; Paul Egan (Christina) of Nashville, TN, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service celebrating God’s gift of eternal life for Ruby will be ¬¬¬11 am, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with Pastor’s William and Brock Abbott officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 11 am in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
