Russell Allen Benson's Obituary
Decatur – Russell Allen Benson, 71, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2025.
Russell was born on August 6, 1954, in Monticello, IL, the son of Everett and Helen (VanVleet) Benson. A U.S. Marine veteran, Russell retired from the Marine Corp. and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years. He loved to read and go fishing. Russell married Delfa Blanco on November 10, 1976, in the Philippines.
Russell is survived by his wife Delfa of Decatur; daughters: Amy (Kenny) Weger of Bement, Debbie Benson of CA, and Joanne (Terrance) Wilson of Decatur; grandchildren: Cody, Courtney, Tre, Michael, Ariella and Terrance II; great grandchildren: Travonne, Mya, Miles and Aria; siblings: Sandy Gillian, Bill Benson, Brenda Johnson, Rick (Terri) Benson and Vickie Benson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10am until the service time of 11am, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
