Ruth was born November 8, 1913 in Oakley, the daughter of Adolph and Minnie (Doddek. She and her husband were the founders of Gentry's Rug & Carpet Service. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking and playing games with her grandchildren. She married Richard M. Gentry in 1928. He preceded her in death August 7, 1971.
She leaves behind her daughter; Marlene Aubert and husband Don of Decatur, brother; Richard Doddek and wife Neita of Oakley, sisters; Mary Ann Hahn of Decatur and Mildred Doddek of Oakley, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, sons; Jack and Albert 'Bud' Gentry, daughter; Louise Harding, sister; Helen Doddek, and brothers; Bill, John, Art, and Ed Doddek.
Joining the family in their loss are friends too numerous to name. All were special to Ruth. Her home and especially her kitchen was a 'Special Gathering Place'.
Sometimes during a storm a giant oak tree will fall. The loss of the tree is sad, but if we look upward, the fallen tree opens the forest canopy for an unencumbered view of the heavens. Ruth was our oak tree and through her life we see heaven more clearly.
