Ruth Adaline Trostle's Obituary
Ruth Adaline Trostle, age 92, of Decatur, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, surrounded by family members.
She was born on July 4, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Iowa and was the daughter of Amy Kathryn and Claude Clinton Thompson. She found joy in fellowship, cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs, reading, watching TV & movies, and sharing card games with friends at the Randall Residence.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Gail Trostle, Parents Amy Thompson, Claude Thompson, brother Robert Thompson, sister Mary Waldrop, and granddaughter Jessica Trostle.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Trostle, Dennis Trostle, both of Decatur, David Trostle (Brenda) of Elk Mound Wisconsin, Donald Trostle (Kim) of Valrico Florida, and Dwight Trostle (Joy) of Villa Park, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Ruth proudly owned and operated New Art Beauty Salon for many years, sharing not only her talent as a hairdresser but also her kindness and friendship with all who sat in her chair. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the generations she helped shape.
A Wake will be held on January 28, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00p.m., with a funeral service immediately following from 5:00 to 6:00p.m. at Graceland Fairlawn, 2091 North Oakland Avenue, Decatur, Illinois.
